Chris “Hollywood” Carson – Director of Training & Lead Instructor
Chris has been in the Security and Firearms Industry for 30 years with thousands of hours in training, instructing and real world experiences. He likes to be very detailed oriented with over communication. He wants you to be successful in your training so he has spent many thoughtful hours developing course syllabus’s and instructor lesson plans. These detailed course syllabus’s and lesson plans is one of the differentiators Enhanced Tactical gives compared to other training companies.
Training Styles
Chris has a few training styles depending on the audience and type of course he is teaching. His classroom style is very detailed, laid back, and interactive. He believes in getting the students involved so they are not sitting the entire time in the classroom. He understands everyone learns in different ways so he uses visual, auditory, verbal, physical, and logical techniques. He also sets the classroom in a way to induce social learning. He uses all these learning types to allow the best path to retaining and understanding the material. He does everything he can to make you feel comfortable in the classroom.
When it comes to advanced range courses his style may be a little different. Think of a more militant style with screaming and high pressure. The purpose for this is to introduce additional stress and confusion. This is only done in advanced classes so not to cause a safety issue with untrained students. There is a complete difference between his classroom and fundamental courses to his advanced range courses. Either way, you are never bored.
Training Methodology
Chris has a unique way of dealing with training and students. He provides his students with the information and explains why they would do something a certain way. He then will explain why they may not want to do it a different way. The only time he says this is the only way is when it comes to safety. But if you were trained to do it a different way and you can explain why it works and is safe he may be open to allowing you to perform it that way during training.
When you train a lot of different students you realize people have different aptitudes, physical abilities, gear availability and desire. To train students to a single method is misguided. Tailoring techniques to the individual is a much better way, but takes longer and requires the instructors to have a vaster knowledge of techniques.

Chris got his nickname Hollywood from his step-dad who raised him. His dad started calling him Hollywood in the 80’s because Chris liked to dress “snazzy” in expensive clothes and sun glasses. So his dad thought he should be in Hollywood. It was also around the time of Top Gun but not sure if his dad saw the movie. Chris has other nicknames that we will leave a mystery for those that don’t know them. 🙂
Hernan Hernandez – Director of Product Research & Evaluation
Hernan is man of faith, a loving husband & father and a servant to the community. He is a huge proponent for preparedness in all situations and for individuals to take personal responsibility in their own safety and security. People’s life experiences shape who they are and based on that Hernan had a life changing encounter, at age 5, as a result of a home invasion by 5 armed men at his home in Caracas, Venezuela. That situation left an impression due to his family’s lack of planning and security. Having been raised in a pacificist household he had to see the reality first hand and to make the changes to ensure he and his loved ones would never be victimized again. This started by sneaking out to his Uncle Carl’s garage to learn how to box. Feeling empowered to protect himself and his loved ones his journey began down the path of self sufficiency. His uncle taught him how to shoot cans on a creek bed with and old ruger .22. This marked the beginning of his 35 year long firearms journey and practicing marksmanship. One of his favorite activities was shooting trap with his uncle and talking safety tactics. Hernan spent a lot of time training both on and off the range and was able to get some exposure to some great training facilities along the way. Hernan believes there are many ways to train, but finds that competitive shooting is valuable in creating stress and in teaching participants how to center and focus themselves against external variables. He doesn’t believe there is a one size fits all methodology to teach so identifying the individual student’s learning style is important to him and to better equip the student.
Hernan believes self defense isn’t only about guns but a complete package that encompasses a warrior mindset, fitness and an awareness and preparedness for all situations. This attitude also expanded into his enjoyment of Jiujitsu and MMA. Hernan is very focused on empowering women to protect and defend themselves and teaches tactics to level the playing field. Another area of passion is around home security and he advises home owners on how to harden their premises and to identify weak points in the structure to avoid breaches.
He has worked in the IT industry for over 25 years and enjoys technology and how to leverage it to help others. During his off time he enjoys it with his family at rollercoaster & water parks, camping, hunting, kyaking, shooting pellet rifles with his kids and serving in the Special Needs Ministry.
